We let Griffin watch the Fox show "House, M.D." regularly, and while we probably shouldn't, his retention of certain medical situations in the show makes for amusing conversation now and then:
Before Valerie gave birth to Gracie, we were preparing Griff for the fact that Mommy would have to be in the hospital. Without going into too much detail, we sort of outlined things that were going to happen. Looking very concerned, Griff asked, "Will they have to intubate?"
Yesterday, while eating dinner, Griffin looked at Valerie and exclaimed, "Mommy, your eyes look yellow. Your liver is shutting down."
There is some useful knowledge, however, that Griffin has obtained. When asked about the various places a blood clot may occur, Griff knows the terms for several of them.
Mommy: Griffin, what is a blood clot in the brain called?
Griff: A stroke.
M: In the legs?
G: An infarction.
M: The heart?
G: A heart attack.
M: The lungs?
G: Pulmonary embolism.
M: Very good, Griff!
G: May I watch Spongebob now?
Spongebob Squarepants notwithstanding, our hope is this will help build the foundation for his career in medicine!
